NYC Cop Called Happiest Man Alive Faces Terminal Cancer

Over the course of my life, many of my friends and colleagues and coworkers have been cigarette smokers. Many of them would damaged by their addiction and some got cancer and have died I hate the cigarette industry for continuing to promote their products when they know that those products kill people.

Tony Schwartz, a well-known New York City media creator and sound archivist, worked closely with his friend, NYPD Officer and Union leader Ken McFeeley, on a series of anti-cigarette radio ads as McFeeley was dying. McFeeley was a longtime smoker and was diagnosed with lung cancer, which became terminal. Together, they created a set of raw, honest, and deeply personal public service announcements aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of smoking.

I'm convinced that everyone has a choice whether to smoke or continue smoking cigarettes and I believe in that. But if I can do anything to help someone do whatever they need to do to quit, I'm happy to do my part.

Smoking cigarettes is an addiction for sure. The power of tobacco is unbelievable and I am shocked by the tobacco industry who over the course of my lifetime, has continued to find ways to get around laws and continue to promote smoking. Some say cigarette smoking – tobacco – is more addictive than cocaine.

Organizations and self-help groups have tried several communications approaches to get people to quit – to help people and encourage a life without tobacco. There are many videos on YouTube that claim to help people to quit. Some show scare tactics and other scare you approaches but in my experience, no video has worked as well as this. It is a simple story of the relationship between my mentor, Tony Schwartz in New York, and his best friend, New York City police officer Ken Mcfeeley. Fortunately Tony recorded his interactions with officer McFeeley and when he died, Tony gave me the material that allowed me to make this video.
